The Hague, 7 February 2018 — The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has appointed Dr Catherine Duggan as its new chief executive officer, as of 1 June.

Dr Duggan, a pharmacist from the United Kingdom, is currently director of professional development at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. “I’m delighted and honoured to take up the position of CEO at FIP. I look forward to building on the great work of FIP leaders, past and present. To advance pharmacy worldwide, we will work through established partnerships with the World Health Organization and forge new partnerships at the global level to benefit the profession and the public,” she said.

FIP’s CEO is charged with ensuring that the organisation, as the global voice of pharmaceutical practice, sciences and education, is an integral participant, on behalf of all its members, in global healthcare decisions and actions. In particular, the new CEO will lead the federation through its work to develop and implement a new strategy and vision.

On the appointment, FIP President Dr Carmen Peña said: “I’m happy that our colleague Catherine Duggan joins FIP as our new CEO. Her excellent career so far makes her worthy of this tough but amazing position. Catherine will surely represent, with honesty, loyalty and energy, the values of our federation, fulfilling our objective of making FIP even stronger, bigger and more efficient.”
