Artemisia annua extract, a key ingredient used in the controversial dietary supplement Arthrem, has been classified as a prescription medicine effective today.

Artemisia annua extract is being classified as a prescription medicine from today, following a recommendation from the Medicines Classification Committee (MCC).
 

Last week Medsafe announced it is temporarily suspending all site audits carried out under the Pharmacy Quality Audit Programme Framework. 

The reclassification of codeine-containing medicines will go ahead this year after the final objection to the change was determined to be invalid
