Mandatories

Viagra® (sildenafil citrate) 50 mg, 100 mg Tablets. Indications: Erectile dysfunction in adult males. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any ingredient in the tablet, concomitant nitrate or nitrite use, concomitant guanylate cyclase stimulator use, cardiovascular risk factors, severe hepatic impairment, blood pressure <90/50mmHg and >170/110 mmHg, recent stroke or myocardial infarction, hereditary degenerative retinal disorders, previous episode of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION). Warnings and Precautions: Assess cardiovascular status including recent onset of angina and those who have not had intercourse for a number of years, patients with increased susceptibility to vasodilators including left ventricular outflow obstruction (e.g., aortic stenosis), multiple system atrophy, anatomical deformation of the penis (e.g., angulation), predisposition for priapism (e.g., sickle cell anaemia), bleeding disorders, active peptic ulceration, diabetic retinopathy, sudden loss of vision in either eye, increased risk of recurrence of NAION, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, erection that persists longer than 4 hours and priapism. Assess ability to drive or operate machinery if dizziness or visual disturbance is experienced. Co-administration with other erectile dysfunction therapies, other PDE 5 inhibitors or pulmonary arterial hypertension treatments containing sildenafil is not recommended, concomitant alpha blocker. See Data Sheet for details. Adverse Effects: see data sheet for full list. Headache, flushing, dyspepsia, diarrhoea, nasal congestion, urinary tract infection, dizziness, rash, abnormal vision. Post-marketing experience: hypersensitivity reaction, serious cardiovascular events, seizure, seizure recurrence, anxiety, priapism, prolonged erection, haematuria, eye disorders including NAION, sudden decrease or loss of hearing. See Data Sheet for details. Dosage and Administration: Initial dose 50 mg orally 1 hour before sex. Increase to 100 mg or reduce dose depending on efficacy and tolerability. Maximum dose is 100mg once per day. A lower starting dose should be considered in elderly, hepatic or renally impaired and those on potent CYP3A4 inhibitors. Food may delay onset of activity.
