Alarm raised over airport health store selling pharmacy-only meds

A pharmacist has been left scratching his head over a health store at Auckland International Airport being allowed to sell pharmacy-only medicines.

This issue has been highlighted before, numerous times, yet appears to be getting worse and is not just restricted to this particular set of circumstances.

Take Sea-Legs for example. Although "Pharmacy-Only" it's available from a wide range of places, even available for customer self selection alongside the Quickeze at the store at Kaiteriteri Beach. Whale Watch Kaikoura sells it even though the pharmacy is open just up the road. Although the rules state "except when sold at a transport terminal" it's hard to call Whale Watch a "transport terminal."

This has been brought to MedSafe's attention on numerous occasions....nothing's happened.
