Health minister David Clark has described the new pharmacy services contract as a building block to reducing inequity in the healthcare system.

Makes me laugh, a previous Minister of health said the same thing about CPSA2012.

How did that work out? Anyone want to explain why that agreement is no longer good enough?

This is a poor contract outcome.

The Guild needs to stop patting themselves on the back and wake up to the commercial reality that pharmacy is operating under.

Pharmacy is a high risk profession (risk of mistakes, risk of prescription discounting etc) that requires a large investment in plant, stock & personnel (undergrad training plus ongoing continuing education).

There are significantly higher returns to be had from low skilled, low outlay businesses like cafes & takeaway shops which represents a big problem for our industry.
