SRW (SCIENCE RESEARCH WELLNESS) NRV² (NERVOUS SYSTEM CALM)

SRW is a New Zealand biotechnology company working with scientists to make supplements and epigenetic tests that help you age well. By offering a holistic range of nutraceuticals that support health at a cellular level, SRW’s fundamental purpose is to change the way people think about, and experience, ageing.

I was lucky to try Nrv², one of the products in the SRW range. I was away presenting at a conference and hadn’t slept well the night before (central city Wellington on a Friday night), so I quickly consumed two capsules.

SRW Nrv² doesn’t act like a sedative – it has more of a calming effect – but you can feel the results soon after taking it. I am typically a good sleeper, but if my sleep gets disturbed, I struggle to calm my mind enough to go back asleep. With Nrv², I had no problem and, most nights, I slept without waking or even moving.

SRW Nrv² supports:

  • nervous system function
  • the body’s natural response to stress
  • ability to unwind at the end of the day
  • rest and relaxation
  • restful sleep.

I lead a high-stress life and usually manage it relatively well but, lately, that hasn’t been so, and stress has gotten on top of me. The opportunity to trial Nrv² was perfect timing. I noticed I got an excellent night’s sleep more than a reduction in stress symptoms, but it was a particularly stressful time, and who knows what I would have been like without it?

There are many different products in SRW’s range, supporting everything from the nervous system to our cells’ ability to defend against ageing. I suggest you research them thoroughly to understand what they can offer your customers.

Because of the range’s complexity, additional customer consultation is required, and your team needs to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Products are beautifully presented and don’t require much space. However, due to their price point, I suggest considering their placement in the pharmacy.

SRW Nrv² RRP $139 for 60 capsules

PRESSING NAILS

On a visit to the 2023 Winter Gift Fair, I met Sharna Salthouse, founder and owner of Pressing Nails. Pressing Nails have no nasty rough edges and come in gorgeous colours and styles. There is a choice of nail glue, good-quality adhesive tapes, and an assortment of shapes and sizes to suit most nail beds.

Good nail prep is always recommended for a long-lasting, goodlooking manicure. Pressing Nails assists in this by supplying a nail-prep pad, orange stick and file/buffer with each set.

Pressing Nails has 10,800 Instagram followers, which is certainly proof of a market. The brand also has a lot of great tutorial videos, which demonstrate how best to apply the products.

TOPIDERM ANTI-CHAFE CREAM 75G

I have a friend who gets what appears to be a sweat rash when exercising, but he also reacts to deodorants and antiperspirants, which makes it tricky to treat. We have tried antifungal creams, steroids, and all sorts of deodorants and antiperspirants, with no luck. When presented with Topiderm AntiChafe Cream, I thought of him instantly as it protects skin from chafing and sweat rashes.

Previously known as Zo Rub, Topiderm Anti-Chafe Cream has a pleasant fragrance when applied and does not leave a residue on clothing. It contains a moisturiser that helps attract and bind moisture to the skin and an antiperspirant to keep you dry and prevent sweat rash.

I thought this would be the answer my friend sought, and it didn’t disappoint. He tried it while continuing with the fungal cream but stopped all deodorants, and the rash was soon gone. He recently played a football game without using Topiderm Anti-Chafe Cream, and guess what returned? So, we’re seeing it as a long-term solution.

I recommend Topiderm Anti-Chafe Cream to anyone who wants to move away from deodorants or who gets chafing and/or sweat rashes. Stock the product in multiple sections in the pharmacy as it covers a few categories: topical creams, sports and deodorants. Because this is a different product with a specific function, introduction to customers is required.

AFT PHARMACEUTICALS MAXICLEAR NASAL SPRAY

A 10ml bottle of Maxiclear Nasal Spray contains 55 doses, each with 138mcg of xylometazoline hydrochloride. The product helps to open and clear nasal passages and reduce congestion and swelling. It can also assist in draining sinuses and relieving symptoms of sinusitis, allergies, colds and flu.

My husband has the most troublesome nose; he never sneezes once. His nose is constantly blocked, and he often gets up to blow it at night. So, who better to try the Maxiclear Nasal Spray?

He is a bit of a frequent flyer with nasal sprays, but I refined his technique slightly to ensure he was getting the best results. There are many ‘How to use a nasal spray’ videos online, which are great educational tools to share on your social media, as even the frequent flyers’ techniques may need tweaking.

First, remove the protective cap. Press the plastic bar towards the bottle several times to activate the pump until an even spray emerges. The pump is now primed and ready for use. To expel the dose into the nostril, press the bar down as above, and the fine spray produced will effectively penetrate the nasal passages. One spray in both nostrils, two to three times a day.

There are a few caveats:

  1. Use no longer than three days in a row. It can be tricky to convince customers of this, mainly because the spray is so effective. But nasal decongestants work by shrinking congested blood vessels; you can build up a tolerance after a few days’ use.
  2. Throw the bottle away a month after opening. I suggest customers write the date on the bottle so they don’t forget, or a nice touch would be to add a discard sticker (found in the dispensary) to the bottle at the counter.
  3. As always, keep out of reach of children and protect from heat.

Overall, hubby liked the Maxiclear Nasal Spray and found it so effective I had to remind him about the three-day rule. He has taken my advice and started using a saline spray, only using the Maxiclear Nasal Spray when his congestion is particularly bad.

Maxiclear Nasal Spray matches well with other cold and flu products, particularly those designed to help with congestion – for example, Maxigesic Cold & Flu Hot Drink.
